Hey dad, part 2!
We are just 11 days short of a full month post the 1 million Women’s Gathering, and yet it still feels like yesterday. As swiftly as I look at the Day of the Atonement in the review mirror of time, we are now approaching another major transition in History: Election Day in the United States of America.
Election Day is loaded with emotions, that will inevitably leave some feeling disgruntled. What they might do under the trigger of those sentiments can impact the lives of many. Truthfully, the more I pay attention to the political climate in America, the more plausible it becomes to swallow the notion that America isn't directly referenced as a nation in the Bible. But even so, I remind myself- and want to remind you- that God is in control, regardless of who becomes the 47th US president. So, where does that leave us?
As the bride of Christ, we may feel that we might lack the power to sway public opinion or persuade people to vote for decrees that are pleasing to God.
Understand that feeling, but then I am reminded of the power of a selfless, collective cry. The last time I witnessed such a unified, and genuine cry for help was at the Women’s Gathering in Washington, D.C.
I remember, as clear as day, hearing one speaker deeply ache for the hundreds of thousands of unborn babies treated as mere ‘inconveniences’ in the US alone. The raw pain and anguish that came from the depth of the heart of someone, who judged it to be her responsibility to cry out for a sin that wasn’t hers, resonated deep within me.
The Bible is replete with stories of men/women of God who have positioned themselves between God and his creation. Yet, too often we read those as just stories. But who is standing in the gap now? Who if not us?
It could be any of us. Or all of us? At least it should be…
Reading about such intimacy with God is one thing, but witnessing a need firsthand, and having the chance to partner with God in addressing it, is another. The former leaves you in awe, but the latter fills you with a boldness that hungers for the heart of God.
In fact, it is written and we often quote the promise: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)
So if you are tempted to engage in shallow arguments with unbelievers, or if you feel overwhelmed by hopelessness; I invite you all to join me in believing that every word in the bible is true.
Nowhere in the aforementioned verse is there a condition tied to the Pharaoh in power at the time.
The most attractive concept about the founding principle of the USA was - supposed to be at least- one nation under God. Not one nation under who seats in the Oval Office; but under God.
“Chris, what fairytale are you leaving in?” “God bless your hopeful little immigrant heart” I could almost hear you say.
But I have a question in return:
Since you are called by His name, what have you been doing to get the country back to what it is supposed to be?
Spiritual intelligence is as worthless as ignorance if it isn’t acted upon. God gave us a simple recipe, yet, there we stand spiritually paralyzed, watching a land that grows sickened by the day.
Darkness is getting rampant, while believers remain silent, pursuing ministerial degrees.
We’ve spent years relying on our own intellect.
Let’s try following the recipe instead- and see how life tastes; shall we?
With love,
Your biggest supporter always
Chris
