‘Stop touching the dishes’
‘But why?’
‘Because I said so’
… attempts to touch the dishes anyways

About me
The scenario above is but one of many I recall distinctly. And as you might have deduced, handprint tattoos have sailed for my buttocks often as a result of my unsolicited curiosity. From a young age, my inquiring nature got labeled as defiance wrapped around the waist by a Haitian flag. So for years, my life became a shelter for inner build-ups and insecurities interrupted here and there by the cackle of my youth. I learned young to set residency somewhere between public appraisal and private unmasking.
I stayed silent many years while the lies of the crowd coursed through my veins. Tired of taking shots at any sense of hope, I watched the wiser version of me play tug of war with her 6 years old counterpart and lose. Car accidents, homelessness, betrayal, depression, and the 2010 earthquake in Haiti are but a few seasons in my sequel that watched me gently unpack ‘but why’s’ that never left.
So to shield myself from the coldness of the journey ahead , I shoved my spark so far up my memory that who I was had to bow down to who I’ve become: a different person for every season. But one day, God asked me a question of His own: Why don’t you ask me how I see what you’ve gone through? His simple question triggered a release inside of me that felt like cold rain over freshly tilled soil.
For the first time, I looked back in the mirror and saw beauty in my rugged picture. The puzzle pieces gently fell into place forming a beaten yet whole frame. I smile as I write this segment because I realize that every scar, pain, and trauma I had endured, is the reservoir I now dip my pen into to write my story.
The story of one who is finally embracing her 1st amendment right in the kingdom.
This blog is for all of my sisters who just like me have experienced hell at the hands of life and came out looking for answers to the hard questions. If just like me, you are ok with ruffling your own feathers at the search of long sought-out answers, come and follow me and I can take you to a man who told me everything I ever did. His name is Jesus.
I’m super excited that you’ve joined me in my corner of the globe through the comfort of your screen.
Here are a few important facts you might have not guessed about me:
